Pre-war/Post-war Colt Super .38 serial number 36864 - Pistol is
in the pre-WWII serial number range and has pre-war blue finish with
some post WWII surplus parts. Unlike the pre-WWII mainspring
housing which was checkered and had no lanyard loop, the mainspring
housing on this pistol is grooved with lanyard loop. Trigger is
also stamped (not milled) and the slide stop is also grooved.
Stocks are late WWII brown plastic with wide reinforcing rings around
the grip screws. Magazine is fill blued. Factory letter is
forthcoming.
Serial number 36864 was one of five guns shipped to J.L. Galef and Son,
Inc., 75 Chambers Street, New York, NY on October 29, 1946.
