Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammer .38 ACP - Serial Number 20000

Model 1903 Pocket Hammer serial number 20000 - Pistol features high polished blued finish with fire blued small parts.  This pistol was manufactured on September 8, 1906 and shipped September 11, 1906 to Schoverling, Daly & Gales in New York City.  There was 1 gun in the shipment. The Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammer .38 ACP is one of the more interesting early Colt semi-automatic variations for Colt collectors due to Colt's method of assigning serial numbers for this model. Beginning in 1903, the first gun manufactured for commercial shipment was number 19999 and the numbering continued in descending order (19999, 19998, 19997...) until serial number 16000 which was manufactured in 1906.

Following serial number 16000, Colt jumped to serial number 20000 and continued in ascending order (20000, 20001, 20002...) until serial number 47227. Pictured above is Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammer .38 ACP serial number 20000, the first example of the ascending serial numbers which remains in original condition.
